Deciding What Survivalist Skills Will Be Most Useful To You

Preppers are exactly that. They are prepared! Have you thought about what kind of skills you might need in the event of a collapse? How you would feed yourself or defend your family? While you might have stock piled some weapons, ammunition and fuel, I'd recommend you work on these skills to go with your supplies. After all, eventually those things will run out. What are you doing long term? Here's a small list of stuff I'd focus on.

Food - Learn how to grow food. Even if you're a more than skilled hunter/fisherman sometimes you might not bring home anything. Learn to grow vegetables and raise animals for protein in the event your hunting grounds don't treat you as well as you'd like. Something as small as meat rabbits or even raising some fish will provide vital back up protein for you.

Vehicle - Fuel will be a valuable commodity. Choosing a reliable vehicle that gets good mileage, and is easy to fix will be key. This may mean something a little older without a bunch of computer equipment that will be impossible to fix yourself.

Power - There are many ways to generate power, but I like solar the most. It's not super expensive to get started with, and not super complicated to set up a few panels with a battery bank. You can easily set this up in a storage shed for emergency power or a larger set up if you need more. You could also use hydrogen power, which alot of people aren't as knowledgeable about, but it's pretty cool. Hydrogen (water) can be converted into electricity to run pretty much anything from tools to cars.

Self Defense - There may very well come a time that you have defend all of your hard earned tools, food, and stores from those who would take it from you. While guns are well and good, it might be in your best interest to learn some close range combat tactics in the event you are surprised, out of ammo, or your assailant somehow manages to take your weapon.

There are of course a ton of other things you could learn or should know as a prepper, but this is a GREAT place to start. So many people now have no ideas how to fix vehicles, grow or hunt their own food, or defend themselves. If you'd like to learn more about some of these things I can recommend a good survivalist package to you. It will teach you a lot of cool stuff like self defense, and how to utilize that hydrogen power I talked about earlier. It's a package of guides meant to help you build a complete survival plan, You can check it out here.
